The Kaska Dena Traditional Territory is held by the membership-at-large. As such, all resource-based activities are with the consultation and consent of the membership as provided by the respective Chiefs and Councils.
The Chiefs and Council of the Kwadacha First Nation are represented by the elected Directors of the Kwadacha Natural Resource Agency (KNRA) to represent their interests in the management of natural resources in the traditional territory.
The KNRA is composed of a chair, vice-chair, and several directors. Each individual has a portfolio related to natural resource management. They are responsible to inform the community of KNRA activities, seek community direction on natural resource management, and be responsible for engaging industry and government regarding the Kwadacha First Nation’s interests on natural resource management.
Kwadacha Natural Resource Agency was established in 2003 and currently is managing Kwadacha forest tenures and providing locally milled lumber for new housing, establishing benefit agreements with mineral exploration companies, and supporting collaborative management negotiations on fish and wildlife management.
